Job Summary

Kaieteur Logistics is seeking experienced Flatbed and Step Deck drivers to haul oversized, heavy, and industrial freight across 48 states. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating a flatbed or step deck trailer to transport specialized cargo, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining strict adherence to load securement regulations, safety protocols, and professional standards at job sites, warehouses, and industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

▶ Safe CMV Operation

Operate a Class A CMV with flatbed/step deck trailers safely and efficiently
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting any defects
Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) in compliance with FMCSA regulations
Safely navigate and maneuver industrial sites, construction zones, and loading docks
Drive with precision and professionalism at customer locations and delivery sites

▶ Load Securement & Freight Handling

Secure all cargo per FMCSA load securement regulations (49 CFR Part 393)
Use chains, straps, binders, and tarps according to commodity and customer specifications
Tarp loads as required by commodity type and weather conditions
Handle multi-stop deliveries with varying load configurations
Verify freight counts and complete bills of lading accurately

▶ Compliance & Safety

Adhere to all DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety protocols
Comply with drug and alcohol testing requirements
Report accidents, incidents, or violations immediately
Maintain a clean driving record at all times
Participate in safety training and continue professional development

▶ Customer Service & Communication

Provide professional and courteous service at all delivery sites
Represent Kaieteur Logistics positively at all times
Communicate proactively with dispatch on ETA, delays, and load status
Maintain professionalism when interacting with shippers and receivers

Required Qualifications

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Minimum 1 year of verifiable flatbed or step deck driving experience
Demonstrated load securement knowledge (chains, straps, binders, tarps)
Clean driving record over the past 7 years with no major violations
Current DOT medical card
Ability to pass a drug screen and background check

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with oversized loads and permit freight
Familiarity with construction and industrial delivery sites
TWIC card or ability to obtain one
Strong communication and time management skills
Previous customer service experience at delivery sites

MVR & Safety Requirements

No DUI/DWI charge in the past 5 years (never in a CMV)
No reckless/unsafe driving in the past 5 years (never in a CMV)
No cell phone use violation in CMV in the past 5 years
No more than 2 Driver OOS for DOT inspections on PSP in the past 2 years
No more than 4 points assessed against license
2 CMV moving violations in the past 3 years is a disqualifier
No drug convictions of any kind in the past 5 years; no DOT failed drug tests ever
No preventable DOT reportable accidents in the past 5 years
